Tête à Tête. Observations about the “Beheading Game” in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and other Medieval Romances. In this article, I will re-examine some observations arising from the confrontation between the sequences of the “beheading game” in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and other medieval romances, in the belief that the comparative study, aside from thinking about the differences as deviations from a presumed model, must rank them as excellent starting point for analyzing the objectives of each individual occurrence and redefinition of a motive. My goal is not to construct hypotheses about an alleged lost source but reflect on the author’s will to operate on a narrative matrix, choosing or rejecting variants and adding new ones
